DIY Kitchen Cabinet Refacing

!±8± DIY Kitchen Cabinet Refacing

The DIY kitchen cabinet refacing recommendations made here will provide an overview about the project at hand and will set the tone for you especially with regards to how exactly you can go about doing it. By the time you are done reading you should be able to decide whether to DIY or to solicit some help in some of the tasks.

I have previously shared about do it yourself cabinet refacing but today I am going to take a different angle.

Starting with the fundamentals. You need to strip the old paint or varnish from your cabinets before doing anything else. Then you would have to sand just before you refinish. Once the sanding is done - and bare wood appears you can then refinish with your favorite coating. You might also need to replace the fronts for the doors and drawers of the cabinets.

Okay now that I have given you a quick overview of how to DIY, let's get our hands down and dirty with the specifics.

If you are planning to restore your cabinets you can use a restore-finish product like one from Howard. You can check these products in places like HD (Home Depot) but I prefer you just find one online.

You can choose from a host of different colors but in this article we will assume you chose Golden oak, which is lovely by the way. Then after you are done with the blending and wiping on and off you can put on penetrating Beeswax. Just rub it on and let it set for about 15 to 20 minutes. Thereafter buff it off with a clean cloth.

As you are thinking of DIY kitchen cabinet refacing let me give you some few options to think about:

· White cabinet with a khaki corian countertop
· Laminate forest green countertop
· Celticmoon's dark refurbished oak
· Kraftmaid Cherry with the Ginger Glaze
· Red birch, which has some of the grain qualities of cherry
· Quarter sawn white oak - dark espresso stain
